A delicious holiday cake is sure to come in handy. Lenten pastries are simple and delicious.

Ingredients (for 12 servings)

  • Refined vegetable oil – 0,5 cup
  • Honey – 2 tablespoons
  • Sugar – 1 cup
  • Flour – 1,5-2 cup
  • Baking powder – 1 sachet
  • Cocoa – 2 tablespoons
  • Water – 1 cup
  • Raisins – 0,5 cup
  • Walnuts (peeled) – 0,5 cup
  • Cinnamon – 0,5 tsp.
  • Cloves – 4-5 pcs.
  • Jam (confit, jam) – 6-8 tbsp.
  • Sesame seeds (for decoration) – to taste

How to make a Lenten holiday cake:

In a saucepan, mix water, sugar, vegetable oil.

Heat the mixture over low heat, stirring, until the sugar is completely dissolved. Add the honey. Stir well (the honey should be dissolved).

Mix cocoa with cinnamon and cloves.

Add the mixture to the pot. Stir well so there are no lumps.

Crush the walnuts with a rolling pin.

Then add raisins and walnuts.

Add the baking powder. Stir well.

Sift flour. Add flour and knead the dough. The dough will be about the consistency of thick sour cream.

Line the cake tin with baking paper or grease it with vegetable oil and dust it with flour. Pour the dough into the mold.

Place the form with the dough in the oven on the middle shelf. Bake Lenten cake at 200 degrees for about 30-35 minutes.

Take the finished cake out of the oven, cool.

Cut the cake into two parts with a sharp knife or string.

Put the lower part on a plate. Smear with jam, confit or marmalade to taste.

Cover with second cake. You can lightly smear the jam and decorate the Lenten cake with sesame seeds, or drizzle with melted dark chocolate.
