Large birthday cake

I made a big four-tier cake for a children’s party. The birthday cake turned out very tasty. The cakes are quite simple to make, and the decorations are simple too.


For the white cake:

  • Butter (room temperature) – 250 g
  • Flour – 1 3/4 cup.
  • Eggs – 3 pcs.
  • Baking powder – 3 tsp.
  • Sour cream – 2 tbsp.
  • Sugar – 1 cup
  • Salt – 1/2 tsp.
  • Vanilla sugar – 1 bag
  • For the chocolate cake:
  • Butter (room temperature) – 250 g
  • Flour – 1 cup
  • Cocoa – 3/4 cup
  • Eggs – 3 pcs.
  • Baking powder – 3 tsp.
  • Sour cream – 2 tbsp.
  • Sugar – 1 cup
  • Salt – 1/2 tsp.
  • Vanilla sugar – 1 package

For the cream:

  • Candied condensed milk “Toffee” – 500 gr
  • Butter (room temperature) – 150 g
  • Heavy cream – 100 gr
  • Also:
  • Chopped chocolate for sprinkles
  • Butter for greasing the cake molds

How to cook a large birthday cake:

First I made the chocolate cake. To do this, mix cocoa with flour, salt, vanilla and baking powder in a separate bowl.

Grease a 22 cm large tin with butter and sprinkle it with cocoa. Place the tin in the refrigerator for the moment.

Beat the butter and sugar, then add the eggs and beat again.

Pour half of the cocoa and flour mixture into the bowl with the beaten butter, mix with a spoon. Then pour in 2 tbsp. of sour cream, stir to combine. Add the remaining dry mixture, stir to combine. (It’s best not to use a mixer when mixing the dry and wet ingredients).

Place the dough in a cooled mold and send to a preheated 180 degree oven for 30-40 minutes (use your oven as a guide).

Allow the finished crust to cool slightly, then remove it from the mold.

If there is a second mold like this, prepare it, if not, like me, then wash this one, dry it. Butter the mold and sprinkle it with flour. Place in fridge.

Prepare the dough for the white cake. It is made in the same way as the chocolate cake, only no cocoa is added. Place the dough in a cooled mold, bake also in a preheated 180 degrees oven until ready.

Here comes the second crust ready. Allow both cakes to cool completely.

Prepare the cream. Whisk the butterscotch and butter. Separately whisk the cream until fluffy and add it to the butter and condensed milk mixture, mix.

Cut each cooled cake in half. Alternating white and chocolate cakes, brush them with the cream.

Assemble a large birthday cake.

Spread the cream on top of the cake on all sides.

Sprinkle the cake with chopped chocolate. Place the large birthday cake in the refrigerator for 6-10 hours, preferably 24 hours.
